Match the tool to the rule

Business Days is the best starting point for counting working days, while Deadline and Notice Period are useful when a rule is expressed as time after an event. Vacation Days and Leave Duration help frame absence periods; Project Days and Work Hours support delivery estimates. SLA Deadline is for service windows rather than a simple weekday count. For example, “ten working days after receipt” and “respond within eight support hours” are different questions and should not share an input model.

Weekdays are not automatically holidays

A Monday-to-Friday mode is only a weekday convention unless the tool explicitly applies a holiday list. Not every deadline, notice, leave, or Monday-to-Friday mode supports holidays. The Business Days tool has a selected holiday catalog; inspect the selected catalog and location before relying on its result. Record whether holidays, observed holidays, and weekends were excluded, because two organizations can use the same phrase while applying different calendars.

Check the operational boundary

The current SLA calculator uses a fixed 09:00–17:00 Monday-to-Friday service window. A different service calendar is not configurable in this version; do not treat the preset as an exact match for another agreement. Verify the start time, pause rules, and holiday treatment separately. These tools help with planning and transparent arithmetic; they do not provide legal advice or determine when a notice is legally effective. For a formal deadline, compare the result with the governing policy and preserve the inputs used. A project estimate may use weekdays while a customer commitment follows a service calendar, so document which one produced the answer. When a period begins on a weekend or holiday, check whether the event date starts the count or merely triggers it; the tool result should be read alongside that policy. For leave, confirm whether partial days and the employee’s normal schedule are represented by the selected inputs. A clean record includes the start date, end date, weekend mode, holiday catalog if used, and any business-hour window.
